My way of teaching piano combines one of the best
Russian musical educations (MM, Moscow University of
Pedagogy, and Moscow Conservatory) with over 25
years of piano and music theory teaching experience.
I was an instructor and score editor at the Moscow
School for the Performing Arts, and have been
teaching piano in the United Sates for over 15
years. This blend of backgrounds and experience
allows me to offer a unique, effective, and fun way
of teaching piano to students of all ages. I offer
my piano students the chance to play all types and
styles of music, ranging from classical to jazz to
modern and everything in between. Also, I give my
piano students a good understanding and knowledge of
music theory.
I am currently offering private piano lessons in
Woodbridge, CT and teaching piano at Neighborhood
Music School (New Haven), one of the most
prestigious music schools in Connecticut, and
currently hold the Vice President position in the
National Music Teacher's Association New Haven
Chapter (I am also a member of the Hartford
Chapter). This allows my piano students to
participate in a large selection of MTNA sponsored
competitions and concerts throughout the year. They
perform in Woodbridge, Orange, Bethany, Milford,
Hamden, New Haven, Seymour, North Haven, etc. For
the past seven years I have been the chairperson of
the NMTA sponsored piano tape audition competition.
I have always believed that it is possible for
everyone to enjoy learning music and play piano. The
challenge is to find a way for them to enjoy
expressing themselves through music and to give them
the skills and abilities to be able to do this to
the fullest.
I believe it's important for students of any
level to understand the music they are playing, not
simply play pieces by rote, so I cover a lot of
music theory in our lessons. My goal is to teach my
students useful concepts about music that will keep
them involved with music for a lifetime.
