Taylor graduated in
2005 Cum Laude from
Berklee College of Music in Boston,
Massachusetts. Although Berklee is known
worldwide as the gold standard for the study
of jazz and contemporary music,
Taylor's musical training had been
classical piano for 11 years. However, she
also composed, wrote lyrics and performed
her own compositions. Berklee awarded her a
partial scholarship to pursue her
songwriting and piano. She survived the
Boston winters, studied jazz piano under Bob
Winter (who also taught Diana Krall) and
graduated as a Songwriting Major and Piano
Principal.
Taylor was selected to join
the Virginia Ambassadors of Music during the
summer of 1999. She performed in cathedrals,
gardens and chapels throughout Western
Europe. Inspired by that trip the following
summer she was accepted into The New England
Music Camp (NEMC) where she studied voice,
piano and performance. After graduating from
The
Madeira School in McLean, Virginia.
Taylor recorded and
produced her first album, "Genesis", a
compilation of original music and lyrics.
She has had the opportunity to perform
original compositions for many prominent
citizens, senators, and dignitaries,
including Leah Rabin, wife of Israel's
former Prime Minster and James Baker III,
former Secretary of State under President
Reagan.
After moving to Los Angeles, she was
fortunate to meet and play for David Foster,
perform with the Bel Air Presbyterian Church
worship band, and now continues to explore
different musical styles and compose. She
wants to help others learn and love music
the way many gifted teachers inspired her.
Taylor is also a member of
the Music Teachers Association of California
(MTAC) under the West LA Branch.
