Korean born pianist, Sohyun Ahn,
has performed throughout Europe and Far East as soloist with
orchestra and recitalist.
She began her studies in Seoul, Korea and by at age of ten, she
gave her debut as a national competition winner. She is a
recipient of numerous awards and scholarships from United
Kingdom, Japan and Korea. Recently she was a finalist at the
Dudley Millenium Competition in England, a semi-finalist at the
Vianna da Motta International Competition in Portugal. She also
took part in Leeds International Piano Competition in 2000.
Sohyun received her training at the Geidai Academy in Tokyo, the
Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Scotland, where she
obtained her master degree with distinction. Recently she
received a professional studies degree from the Manhattan School
of Music.
She has participated frequently in masterclasses with such
renowned pianists as Dmitri Alexeev, Richard Goode and John
O¡¯Conor. Teachers have included Marc Silverman, Philip Jenkins
and Klaus Schilde.
Running her own piano studio for over ten years in various
cities, she is happy to help students to enjoy the music and to
develop their musical ability. She is fluent in Japanese and
English as well as Korean.
