Steven Stratvert is an educator and performer from
Morristown, NJ. Steven has an undergraduate degree
in music from Hunter College and two graduate
degrees in music education from Columbia University,
Teachers College. Steven has studied with two
Juilliard School professors for many years:
classical piano with Daniel O. Cataneo and
improvisation with the late Robert M. Abramson,
master teacher to several generations of
professional musicians. Steven has also studied jazz
piano with the well-known jazz pianist Victor Lin of
New York City as well as educator Bertram Konowitz
of Teachers College. Steven has studied song-writing
and popular music with various artists in NYC.

As a pianist, Steven has performed at Milbank
Chapel, Teachers College, The Juilliard School, Brookdale Community College, The German Language
School, and numerous private events. Steven has also
performed at various events in Germany and Norway.
Aside from his performance credentials, Steven's
primary focus has been on education. From 2005 to
2007, Steven taught the piano to graduate and
undergraduate students of Columbia University. From
2007 to 2008, Steven was a faculty member of the
music department at Brookdale Community College.
Steven has also been a piano instructor at the
immensely popular Original Music School in Cedar
Knolls, NJ. Steven is in the process of designing
and writing a method book for young children.
Steven has always been fascinated by students who
have a curiosity to create and to explore new
musical possibilities.

My hours are flexible, I teach seven days a week,
day and evenings. Besides teaching at my own studio,
I was also an Adjunct Professor of Music.
