Shawn Daly holds a Bachelor of
Music degree from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove,
Pennsylvania and Masters degrees in piano performance and
accompanying from Syracuse University. At this time, he is a
candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts at the
College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. Among Mr.
Daly's distinguished teachers and coaches are such names as
Galen Deibler, Frank Weinstock, Robert Weirich, George
Pappastavrou, Arlene Shrut, Steven Heyman, and Eileen Brown. He
has been heard in masterclasses with Pierre Souvairan, Eugene
and Elizabeth Pridonoff, William Black, James Tocco and
Oscar-Winning composer, John Corigliano.
Much in demand as an accompanist and chamber player, Mr. Daly
has been heard in recitals and broadcasts throughout the U. S.
including a 1995 live broadcast of a performance of the Piano
Sonata of Charles Griffes on Cincinnati public radio and a 2000
live broadcast on Chicago's WFMT from the Dame Myra Hess
Memorial Concerts. He has also appeared on the Civic Morning
Musical Concerts in Syracuse, New York—the longest running
recital series in America. Other recent concert appearances
include the 100th Anniversary celebration of the music
department at Susquehanna University, the 57th Annual American
Music Festival at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC,
the Twenty-fifth Anniversary Gala of the Toedtman School of
Music, a faculty recital at Earlham College, a benefit recital
for the University of Dayton Jacque and Lee Cook Memorial
Scholarship Fund and the Greenwoods Ensemble 1998 Gershwin
Celebration. In March of 2001, the National Federation of Music
Clubs awarded Mr. Daly the Faye and John Abild Prize in American
Music. His upcoming engagements include the Pianists of the
World Concerts at St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London, UK.
In December of 2000, Mr. Daly was named to the
Baldwin Piano Company Artist Roster and in March of 2001 was
awarded the Faye and John Abild Prize in American Music by the
National Federation of Music Clubs.
In addition to his work as a performer, Mr. Daly has served as
administrative assistant for the Harrisburg (PA) Symphony
Orchestra and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. From 1996-1998,
he was guest instructor for the Susquehanna University Summer
Session and is former associated artist at Earlham College in
Richmond, Indiana. An active church musician, Mr. Daly's
liturgical expertise includes the Roman Catholic, Orthodox,
Anglican, and Lutheran traditions. He is a former
organist/choirmaster at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in
Cincinnati, Ohio (the oldest parish in the Archdiocese).
Currently he holds the appointment of Organist/Director of Music
at the Basilica & National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in
Carey, Ohio.
Mr. Daly's other activities include judging the Ohio Music
Teachers Association and Indiana Music Teachers Association
state competitions, the CCM Preparatory Department concerto
competition, and the Wednesday Club of Harrisburg (PA) Piano
Competition. Mr. Daly will be accepting a limited number of
