Teaching Philosophy
Ms. Love teaches beginning to advanced students who are
enthusiastic, dedicated and committed to learning how to play
the piano. Beginning students will learn to play and sing simple
melodies on the piano with accurate notes and rhythmic values.
Beginning students will learn to read treble and bass clef notes
within the first month of lessons.
Ms. Love requires her students to learn and memorize major and
minor scales (natural, harmonic and melodic), arpeggios and
broken chords, etc (Arpeggios and broken chords are important
for proper use of the arms and correct rotation of the wrists).
Ms. Love also emphasizes tone, technique, pedaling and phrasing.
Additionally, Ms. Love requires that her students practice on a
weighted keyboard (must have 88 keys) or an acoustic piano to
develop proper finger and joint strength. Ms. Love's students
will learn to play popular and classical literature from
different style periods, e.g., Baroque, Classical, Romantic,
Impressionist, and Contemporary. Ms. Love also prepares students
for local and state competitions and holds an annual spring
recital.
Ms. Love ultimately enjoys working with children and
helping them develop a love of music that will last a lifetime.
There is a true sense of accomplishment in ultimately mastering
a musical instrument. Contact Ms. Love by phone to discuss your
musical needs.
