Greetings
from Ruth Rose in Washington DC! I am a piano
teacher with over 20 years of experience. I teach
5-year-old children and adult students, and all ages
in-between, but the approach is really one: I aim to
teach an enjoyment of music for oneself, and
encourage sharing this precious gift with others. At
all levels, together with my students we explore
repertoire that they have affinity with and will be
motivated to learn, and I give them tools to learn
how to practice on their own and become musicians in
their own right. Below you can read more about my
background.
Ruth Rose is a pianist whose
repertoire ranges from the Baroque and Romantic to
the contemporary. Her playing has been praised by
the international press for her "truly memorable
performance", "blooming romanticism ... a deep, warm
sound ... rich interpretations ... and a smooth
singing quality." She has performed extensively in
recital, with orchestra and as a chamber musician
throughout Europe, the United States and South
America, appearing at prestigious venues like Merkin
Hall, American University, the San Diego Repertory
Theater and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and soloed
with such ensembles as the Chamber Orchestra of
Florida and the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional of Peru.
Ms Rose is also a committed performer of
contemporary music, and many composers have
dedicated pieces to her. She is a founding member of
the renowned "Concerten tot en met"
contemporary series in Amsterdam, and has performed
with the Contemporary Music Forum at the Corcoran
Gallery in Washington DC. She is also a frequent
collaborator with the In Series. A graduate of the
Peabody conservatory and based in Washington DC
since 2003, Ruth Rose was born in Peru. She has been a
faculty member of the Washington Conservatory, and
is an active board member of the Washington Music
Teachers Association. Her CD "Spanish and Latin
American piano music" has been released on the
Americus label.
