About
Jean Park is a dedicated and award-winning piano
teacher with more than 9 years of piano teaching
experience for students of all ages and levels, 20+
years of classical piano training, and both a
Master's degree from Manhattan School of Music &
Bachelor's degree from the University of Washington
in piano. Her home piano studio is located in Rego
Park in Queens, NY and her students come from Rego
Park, Forest Hills, Elmhurst, Corona, Kew Gardens,
and other nearby Queens areas as well as Long Island
and Manhattan. Jean Park is fluent in English and
Chinese and can teach lessons in both languages.
Teacher's statement
Jean's goal as a piano teacher is to share her
love for music and the piano with each student.
Lessons are all uniquely tailored to fit each
student's strengths and weaknesses. Jean's passion
in teaching and ability to interact with each
student to learn about what makes them unique makes
each of her teacher-student relationships very
special. In lessons her focus is to firstly, meet
the personal goals of each student, secondly to
challenge every student to become an even better
musician by improving their sound production,
technique, rhythmic vitality, score-reading,
ear-training and other skills, and lastly to help
each student to make great music through developing
better hearing and awareness. In lessons, Jean
challenges all of her students to meet their
personal bests as well as to have fun.
Biography
Pianist Jean (Huang) Park, began taking piano at
the early age of 5. Since then, she has become a
distinguished and talented pianist shown through
performances, scholarship, competitions, and
festivals. Jean Park has won second place in the
Schubert Club National Piano competition in the
collegiate division and also second place in the
Bauru-Atlanta piano competition. She has also
received the National Association of Asian
Professionals and Collaborative Artists East West
Scholarship as well as other scholarships and
awards. She has attended a number of music festivals
with scholarship such as the International Keyboard
Institute and Festival, CCM Prague International
Piano Institute, Sewanee Music Festival, and
Marrowstone Music Festival.
A popular and award-winning teacher, Jean Park has
had 8 years of piano teaching experience ranging
from ages 4- adult. In 2009, a student she taught
from scratch took second place at the Eastside
Performing Arts Festival in her first time entering.
Other students have also received praise in
adjudications and performances. Jean was also
selected for the Music Teacher's National
Association's STAR Award in 2008, an award for which
she was chosen on the basis of excellence in
academic achievement, successful teaching experience
and demonstrated leadership abilities.
Jean has recently graduated from the prestigious
Manhattan School of Music completing the Master's in
Music degree in Piano Performance (2011) studying
with Daniel Epstein and Andre Michel Schub. Prior to
this, Jean held double degrees from the University
of Washington, with a bachelor’s degree in piano
(2008) studying with Dr. Regina Yeh and also in
Business (2008) with a double focus on International
Business and Human Resources.
Jean currently lives in Queens, NY with her husband
Young who is in his first year of residency at Long
Island Jewish Hospital.
