I began piano lessons at six with the
late Norma Pazolla which included group
recitals at the Montgomery Theater in San
Jose. I later continued lessons at St. Leo's
Grammer School with more group recitals,
auditions, and choir until I graduated.
Later I studied with the late Gloria Noble,
Nancy D. Jensen, and Cherie Curry until
graduation from San Jose State University.
After graduation I studied with Sue Shannon
on teaching group piano and music lessons to
public school children. I taught at the
Presbyterian Music School and the late
Marilyn Carstens Music School while I
maintained my studio in Santa Clara.
I have prepared students for the
Certificate of Merit Program in the MTAC, as
well as National Guild Auditions. I have
studied the Achievement Program syllabus
(Royal Conservatory of Music) and am always
researching new ideas regarding pedagogy. I
also incorporate The Alexander Technique as
far as posture, balance, and coordination
are concerned.
The individual student is taken into account
as to how I will approach teaching that
student. Respect and fairness are always
necessary before anything else. I always
encourage each one to do their best work and
won't give up on them. Many of my students
stay with me eight to ten years.
My students have performed at graduations,
church services, weddings, funerals, variety
shows, and high school produced Broadway
Musicals, as well as auditions and CM
Programs.
I strive to offer each student the best that
I can.
Thank you,
Patricia Cachopo
