About the Teacher

I teach ages 7 through 18. All students must have a good quality acoustic piano and a desire to learn to play beautifully. I use a wide variety of teaching literature and classics. Piano activities are offered to students according to their age, level and maturity and are spaced throughout the year to provide incentive.

TEACHING GOALS
  • To give students a great foundation in note-reading and rhythm so that they can eventually become independent musicians.

  • To give students the technical skills necessary to create a beautiful tone and elegant style.

  • To pass on a love of the classics, knowledge of composers and the periods of music history.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
  • MTNA Certified Teacher

  • 19 years teaching private piano lessons.

  • 2 years teaching college music history.

  • 1 year teaching elementary school music.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor of Music, 1977, Muskingum College,
    New Concord, Ohio
    Major: Music Education and Piano.

  • Graduate school coursework in Music History, 1979-1981, Ohio State University
