| I started piano at age 4. I graduated
from Wichita State University with a degree
in French Horn Performance, minor in Piano
Performance.
Professional Career:
- Played third horn with the Wichita
Symphony 1972-1974
- Played second horn with the Kansas
City Symphony 1983-2008
- Cofounder of MerrieNan Melodies, an
innovative approach for learning to read
music by writing and composing.
I presently teach 15 area music students and give
riding lessons at my farm in Baldwin City, KS.
I create performing opportunities for my students by
taking them to assisted living facilities and
nursing homes to play for the residents.
My sister Merrie Skaggs and I are the creators of
MerrieNan Melodies, a new innovative method for
learning to read music through writing and
composing. Piano lessons are now accessible for
Pre-Readers from the age of 3 on up to any age
