| About the Teacher

Bachelor of Science degree in Music
Education, NYS certification to teach both vocal and
instrumental music in grades K-12; some graduate level study in
voice at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY.
Piano teacher apprenticeship, 2 years, Rochester NY.
Teaching privately in Williamsburg VA for 10 years, both piano
and voice. Member of MTNA and Peninsula Music Teachers Assn.,
NFMC Senior Club President (Cadenza Music Club) and chair of
NFMC Festival for Virginia Peninsula; chair of Yamaha Clavinova
Festival for 2 years; perform with Williamsburg Women's Chorus
and their ambassador ensemble, Williamsburg Choraliers for 9
years (frequent soloist).
My educational philosophy combines technical training, standard
repertoire and elements of FUN. In today's culture, if playing
piano or singing isn't ever fun, students will not practice
enough or persevere in their studies. Therefore, I have
incorporated computer labs, digital piano and sequencer labs,
performance opportunities, supplemental materials of many kinds
to keep students challenged and interested.
