Dr. Ken Mahood was recently nominated and elected
for the 9th consecutive year to the 2009 edition of
the prestigious Marquis' "Who's Who in America". Dr.
Mahood has over 40 years of teaching experience. His
education includes: B.S., music education (King's
College); M.M, music composition (Manhattan School
of Music); Ph.D, music theory (Metropolitan Univ. of
London, UK); Ph.D, (Concordia College & Univ; and
Ed.D, (American Univ). He is a member of Music
Educators National Conf. (MENC), Piano Guild,
American College of Musicians, and the Virginia
Music Teachers Assoc. (VTMA). Dr. Mahood served 25
years as Assoc. Director of Music at Christian
Fellowship Church, Loudoun County's (Va) largest
church. In 2005, Dr. Ken was appointed Director of
Music at The Church of the Valley in Strasburg,
Virginia, one of the fastest growing churches in the
Shenandoah Valley. He also appears regularly over
WAZT-TV as guest pianist. In the area of performance, Ken has a unique
combination of performance experience in the three
major areas of music: classical (serious music),
sacred (gospel music), and popular music. Ken began
his studies of the piano at age 6 and organ at age
10. While in college he studied piano under the
protégé of Artur Rubinstein and was the only
undergraduate student to be associate conductor of
the university orchestra. Upon receiving dual BS
degrees, Ken studied music composition with noted
American composer Aaron Copland. Dr. Mahood's
achievements include performances for Billy Graham
Crusades, Ambassadors of the Organization of
American States (OAS), before members of the United
Nations, Vice President Nelson Rockefeller and US
President George Bush. In area of popular music, Ken
has performed with Andy Williams, Pat Boone, Tony
Bennett, and many others. From 1980 until 1990, Dr
Mahood presented his own unique concert series,
"Chosen to Live". This highly acclaimed series
featured Ken performing significant classical and
sacred works interwoven with his own real life
trauma as one of the most successful kidney
transplant recipients over 33 years ago.
Tuition
Dr. Mahood's goal is to provide the best
music education for the most reasonable price.
Although Ken has outstanding education in his field
and over 35 years of teaching in both the public and
private sector, his rates are competitive with other
less experienced instructors.

**Flat rate: The student is provided with one
individual instruction period per week. When a month
has 5 weeks of lessons, the fifth week is free.

already enrolled in keyboard or piano disciplines.

ability to provide comprehensive teaching

This instruction is geared to combine a music
learning program (suitable for beginners or
advanced) integrated with learning the highly
advanced nuances of the Kawai digital instrument
system.
