For
the last 25 years, Mr. Suarez has been giving piano lessons
at a broad scope of levels, from beginners to advanced
students. All ages (6 to 75... yes, 75!).
The basic training comprises sight-reading, ear training,
theory, as well as an eclectic repertoire suite for a
multi-cultural society: jazz, pop, hymns, classical,
musicals, fake book reading (accompaniment based on reading
chords plus a bass only) and improvisation.
Since his days as a college piano instructor, and later as a
Dean of the Piano Faculty at Colombian Adventist University,
he has been passionate about finding new ways to make piano
learning an interesting activity that can touch the
student's lives in a positive manner.
Some of his former students are currently professional
musicians, others have pursuing some other careers, but they
have learned to love the music and use it as a language to
create beauty.
Martin Suarez holds a Bachelor in Music Education from the
Colombian Adventist University and a Masters degree in
Music-Piano Performance from University of Redlands, CA.
Currently, Mr. Suarez owns Martin Music Studios, a
Project-Digital Recording Studio in Bolingbrook IL. Besides
his activities as a piano recitalist and free-lance
musician, he is currently working as a Music Coordinator for
New Hope Lutheran Church in North Aurora, IL. and he
is a college piano instructor at College of DuPage in Glen
Ellyn, IL.
