Teaching Philosophy
Psalm 150
I am a former World Vision sponsored child, and am currently a
World Vision Artist Associate. I am a Christian and believe that
children are gift from the Lord. I enjoy bringing out the
talents that God has given them through music and the performing
arts. My hope is that these children will go out into the world
and use their talents to their fullest potential to make a
difference for others.
Experience
I have taught children for over 20 years. I have over 35 years
experience in piano and have played since I was 7 years old. I
sing vocals and play keyboards and percussion for our Worship
Team at church and various women's ministries. I teach piano
technique and theory from ages 5 to adult.
My Performing Arts teaching experience also includes instruction
and choreography in Dance, including; Polynesian, Ballet, Tap,
Jazz; I also Direct and Choreograph for musicals and choruses,
and am the children's worship leader at my church.
I am also the Founder/Director and principal dancer for both
Ha`i Ola Ministries, a non-profit ministry and Pa Hula Ohana, a
traveling polynesian dance troupe.
Method
I prefer to use Alfred's Basic Piano Library in addition to
classical and modern pieces. I teach the tablature method only
to students who have a firm understanding and foundation in
music theory, scales and chords.
