A native of Buenos Aires,
Argentina, Mr. Luis Sanchez has concertized extensively in
Argentina, Uruguay and the United States. National Public Radio
of Argentina has invited him in several occasions to offer
recitals broadcasted live in Argentina. He has also appeared
with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ball State
Symphony Orchestra.
Sanchez’s many awards include Indiana State winner of the 1997
M.T.N.A college competition, Regional Honorable Mention of the
1998 M.T.N.A. college competition, Ball State Graduate Concerto
Competition, 1998 Fort Wayne Philharmonic Concerto Competition,
1998 Musicological Research Competition of Mu Phi Epsilon,
Competition for Young Pianists of the Jrimian Foundation (Buenos
Aires); Juventudes Musicales de Argentina Competition, and
Centro de Estudios Pianisticos Competition. He was recipient of
the Ball State University Outstanding Graduate Student Award for
two consecutive years, 1997-1998 and 1998-1999. Mr. Sanchez is a
also member of Mu Phi Epsilon, Pi Kappa Lambda, MTNA, and the
National Piano Guild.
His students have been prize winners in several competitions,
Scholarship for the Youth (Carmel, IN), Federation of Musical
Clubs, Muncie Music Festival, and Muncie Symphony Orchestra
Junior Concerto Competition. A frequent adjudicator, he has
joined the piano faculty in the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp,
Michigan in 1997.
A graduate of the National Conservatory of Music "Carlos Lopez
Buchardo" and Ball State University, Sanchez is currently a
member of the faculty at St. Petersburg Junior College. He has
been under the tutelage of Robert Palmer, Ana Litovsky Grunwald,
and Graciela Beretervide.
