Amber Liao has taught piano and music for more than fifteen years. Having served on the faculty of Montclair State University and Snow College, she currently teaches piano at Seton Hall University and her private studio in New York City. As a certified adjudicator for NYSSMA, she regularly adjudicates the NYSSMA festivals and numerous regional and national competitions. Ms. Liao enjoys working with students of all ages and levels in both private and group settings. She respects the unique qualities of each individual, and designed her lessons according to the individual learning styles and interests of the students. In her studio, the students not only enjoy themselves as they play, but also learn the skills, techniques and pieces that will help them develop and grow as a pianist.

As a solo pianist, Amber Liao has presented recitals at Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Temple Square in Utah, the Chicago Cultural Center, and the National Concert Hall in Taiwan. Her first solo album of works by Granados, Schumann and Beethoven was released by MSR Classics in 2010. Amber Liao holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Manhattan School of Music and a Master of Music from the Peabody Institute. She is the winner of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, the Taiwan Classical Music Society Young Artist, and the Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Competition.
