Laurie Oates, Piano teacher, Greenlawn, NY I received a Bachelor of Music degree from Shorter College in Rome Georgia. I have my degree in piano performance and have been teaching piano , organ and violin for 30 years. I was an organist for the local Churches for many years and now I accompany different musical theatre groups and Dance groups . I hope to inspire my students and teach them to have fun while learning piano , organ or violin. I studied in Switzerland with Dr. Nagy on teaching skills and performance. I teach many levels and prepare students for NYSSMA.

Currently a Self employed piano teacher. Worked for several music studios; Family Melody, South Shore classics, Summer Musical Theater Group, Donna Hailey Voice Studio. Worked extensively teaching music to children. Worked with other music teachers to develop music educational programs in Jericho, East Williston and Bohemia school districts.

Substitute teacher aid in the Harborfields school district.

1978 – 2011
Organist and music director for First Church of Christian Scientists in Levittown and Patchogue. Prepared solos and music arrangements for mass services. Played the organ for Wednesday and Sunday services.

2003 – 2010
Substitute teacher aid in the Connetquot school district for elementary, junior and senior High school.

1990 – 2000
Managed private after school music programs for children at the Connetquot library and the Bohemia recreation Center for nursery through elementary age.

1983 – 1989
Teacher aid and staff piano accompanist for BOCES cultural art center in Syosset. Worked with gifted and talented high school students in the fine arts program.

Piano Teachers Association, Guild of organist. Involved with the New York State Music Teachers Association (NYSSMA).
