| Laura
Dickey believes that music lessons are
beneficial to all, not just the very
"talented." She strives to instill in her
students a life-long love of music as well
as the knowledge and skills to make music.
She has taught students ranging in age from
four to 84 and is currently accepting
students of all levels and abilities at her
east Long Beach studio. Lessons are
available in the student's home in some
cases.
Laura earned Bachelor's degrees in Piano Pedagogy
and Performance from Texas Woman's University and a
Master's degree in History of Music from Yale
University. She began teaching during college and
has maintained a private studio in Long Beach since
1994.
A Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through the
Music Teachers' National Association, Laura
participates in the Music Teachers' Association of
California, the California Association of
Professional Music Teachers, the National Guild of
Piano Teachers, and the American Guild of Organists.
Laura adjudicates throughout the United States for
the National Guild of Piano Teachers auditions and
in California for the Music Teachers' Association of
California Certificate of Merit examinations. She
has also served as organist/pianist for several
churches and holds the Service Playing Certificate
from the American Guild of Organists. Laura is
available to accompany singers and instrumentalists
and to play for weddings, funerals, and church
services.
