Me
Katrina's musical background includes a diverse
course of study with internationally renowned

hand therapy. She began piano studies at the age of
eight and not long afterwards, she won first prize
in the Bartok Festival sponsored by the California
Music Teacher's Association. Since then, Katrina has
continued to perform in local, national and
international venues including master classes,
competitions, recitals and music festivals.
While at the Manhattan School of Music, Katrina
studied with Mr. Jeffrey Cohen. Additionally, she
studied with Teofils Bikis at the Latvian Music
Academy in Riga, Latvia, Oxana Yablonskaya at
Juilliard, and Mary Sauer, Principal Pianist with
the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Katrina has
performed in several international music festivals
including the Puigcerda Musica Clasica
International Festival in Spain, the Elan
International Music Festival in Vermont, the
Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young
Artists Piano Program, the Bowdoin
International Music Festival, and the 4th
International Young Musicians Summer Festival
in Latvia. Katrina is a member of the California
Music Teacher's Association (MTAC) and is the
Corresponding Secretary for the Orange Coast Cities
Branch.
Teaching Mission Statement
My goal is to develop my students' appreciation and
sensitivity to the art of classical music. Through
their piano studies they will build a solid
technique and learn to express themselves through
music. In addition, to develop a comprehensive
musical understanding and skills, supplemental areas
of study will include ear training, sight reading,
and music theory.
