Kelly Anderson
began his piano studies at age four and soon
was accepted into the studio of Palma
Wolverton in Billings, Montana. He toured
Europe as a member of the America’s Boy
Choir when he was eleven. At 15 he began
studies with Carol Urban-Stivers in Las
Vegas and started playing piano on the
"Strip." He has been a featured soloist with
major orchestras including the Utah Symphony
under the direction of Joseph Silverstein.
He has also been a winner in numerous
competitions including the 1998 Kingsville
International Piano Competition. During his
tutelage under Gary Amano, Dr.
Anderson was recipient of both the
Robins Award and the Presser Scholarship
from Utah State University. He was the USU
Concerto Winner twice and was named Pianist
of the Year, Accompanist of the Year and
Composer of the Year. After graduating from
USU with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1998,
Mr. Anderson was honored to
be invited to join the faculty as the
youngest teacher in the music department,
teaching piano literature and keyboard
harmony for the next four years before
moving to California. He received a Master
of Music degree from the University of
Southern California in 2004 and a Doctorate
of Musical Arts degree in piano performance
in 2008 at USC under Dr. Stewart Gordon. He
recently taught two piano literature courses
and several piano students at USC while Dr.
Gordon was on sabbatical. Kelly and his
wife, Sherice, reside with their daughter
and son in Pasadena where he teaches
privately. |
