I have played the piano since I was 4 years old, and I started my
accompanying and performing career in High School. I worked for several
years as a Church Pianist where I accompanied choirs and voice and
instrumental soloists. I also performed myself as a soloist during
services and outside of Church as well, gaining experience in several
different genres of music, such as Classical,
Spiritual/Gospel/Christian, Popular Music, Musicals, Rock, and a tiny
bit of Jazz. My performance continued into my Undergraduate career where
I also accompanied school and college choirs, along with large ensembles
and vocal soloists. I recently graduated in the Summer of 2012 with my
Bachelor's of Arts in Music, with a concentration in Piano. For the past
2 years I worked as an accompanist to local public schools in the
Washington, D.C. area and as a Piano Teacher in my own private studio
and through a Music & Arts chain on the East Coast.
While I have harbored a deep love for music since I was a young
child, I find a true sense of accomplishment and worth when I
teach. I love being able to share a gift as mysterious and
enriching as music with all ages of students. Seeing a student
light up when they finally understand an important principal
after lots of hard work is such a joyous experience, and I truly
treasure being able to share something as special as music with
my students.
Lessons with me are unique in that I travel to wherever the
student is. I currently do not have a space large enough to
provide an adequate piano studio, and I find that students truly
appreciate the convenience of a teacher who shows up at their
doorstep, so this is how I have decided to continue to run my
business. I travel throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and
would love the chance to be an encouragement to your musical
studies.
