As a result of an aptitude test, when I was a 7
year-old girl, I was placed in music school
(Russia). And ten years later (1972) I started my
career as a performing pianist and professional
piano instructor.
I acquired unique insights after 16 years of
academic music education, 38 plus years as a piano
instructor (and as a performing pianist for ballet,
ballroom and folk dance, jazz, choir, and solo vocal
– including Bolshoi performers – at the Moscow
musical scene).
Having studied and practiced every known piano
teaching method, I developed my own one, with
extraordinary results: An average
child will learn piano 2 to 4 times faster
than normal. And even with dyslexia or poor
coordination, a child may learn about as fast as
what is considered to be the norm. (And the student
learns the perfect techniques: Some
of my piano students were admitted to the Moscow
Conservatory, the Russian equivalent of the
Juilliard.)
How things work
Usually, the prospective student (and/or parent)
is invited to witness a lesson given to a current
student (ages 7 and up). Thereafter, the prospective
student gets a free "pre-lesson" to get mutually
acquainted and evaluated. I check and discuss the
student's capabilities and his/her likely rate of
progress.
At the very first lesson, we start playing four
octaves with both hands. By the end of the first
year, the student can play Mozart's minuet, Czerny
technical etudes for children, Kabalewski,
Schubert's waltzes, Bach, Bartok, or other classical
and modern composers. (Normally it takes at least 3
years to reach this level.) [Please note that
classical training allows one to easily play jazz or
other types of music]
