PRIVATE TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Provide piano lessons and instruction in music
theory to private students, ages 5-18. Students have
won awards in a variety of significant California
competitions, including first place prizes from the
Southwestern Youth Music Festival, the Grand Prize
at the Los Angeles Korea Times Competition, the Los
Angeles International Liszt Competition, and
successful auditions with the Young Musician
Foundation Chamber Music Program and university
piano program entrance auditions.

BIOGRAPHY
Pianist and educator Dr. Hye-Won Cho, first prize
winner at the 2008 Los Angeles International Liszt
Competition, has performed as recitalist, chamber
musician and soloist with orchestra in numerous
prestigious venues around the world. She has
performed in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and
the Juilliard Theatre in New York; Zipper Hall and
Schoenberg Hall in Los Angeles; Jordan Hall at the
New England Conservatory in Boston (simultaneously
broadcast on the national radio program "From the
Top" on NPR); and the Gewanthaus in Leipzig,
Germany. Her performances have also been broadcast
on KUSC 91.5 FM.
In addition to her numerous solo performances, Dr.
Cho has appeared as soloist with numerous
orchestras, including the La Mirada Symphony, the
Brentwood-Westwood Symphony, the Young Musicians
Foundation Debut Orchestra, and the UCLA
Philharmonia. Most recently, Dr. Cho performed the
Beethoven Triple Concerto in several concerts with
the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra. She has also
performed in such prestigious music festivals as the
Kniesel Hall Chamber Music Festival in Maine, the
Yellowbarn Chamber Music Festival in Vermont, and
the Banff Music Festival in Banff, Canada.
Born in Seoul, Korea, Dr. Cho started piano lessons
at the age of five. Her major teachers include
Ick-Choo Moon, Jerome Lowenthal, Robert McDonald,
and Walter Ponce. Dr. Cho received both the Bachelor
and the Master of Music degrees as a scholarship
student from the Juilliard School in New York and
the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at University of
California, Los Angeles, where she received the
Elaine Krown Klein Scholarship and served as a
teaching assistant for Professor Walter Ponce,
chairman of UCLA's piano department.
