Daniel
Lopez Lauber, born in Mercedes, Uruguay,
began studying piano at the age of 6 under the
direction of Carmen Issasi. In 1996, he obtained a
Professor of Piano and Music Theory diploma from the
Institute of Music Education in Uruguay. As a
Professor of Piano he continued to perfect his
skills under the guidance of Professor Blanca Varese
in Montevideo and Maestro Jose Maria Martino Rodas
in Mercedes, Uruguay.
In 1998, Daniel entered "Ciudad de Montevideo" a
piano competition in which he won a scholarship as a
semifinalist for a master's class with the French
pianist Pascal Le Carre.
In 2000, Daniel continued under the well renowned
classical pianist Eduardo Alfonso and during that
time he accomplished:
2nd place winner of a national
competition at "Elaine Richepin Association"
(Uruguay) in October 2000.
1st place winner of two national
competitions at "Ateneo de Montevideo" (Uruguay)
on October 28, 2001.
Two, 1-year Scholarships for private Piano
lessons obtained from "Sociedad Uruguaya de
Artistas Interpretes" (SUDEI) in 2000 and 2002.
Among others, Daniel performed at the Eusebio
Gimenez Library, College Hermanas del Huerto, Club
Union Oriental, Bodega Beccaria, AGADU Hall, Ateneo
of Montevideo, Rural House Hall, Anglo Theater and
Vaz Ferreira Hall in Uruguay. Additionally, he
performed in numerous churches and private
locations.
In 2004 Daniel was selected for a performance
scholarship sponsored by the College of Charleston
(SC). Daniel performed in various locations and
events including the Piccolo Spoleto Festival,
Monday Night Series at the College of Charleston,
Millennium Music, Bishop Gadsden, and the Daniel
Music Building. During this time he was selected for
an interview from a television station from Uruguay,
to play a piece and to speak about his experiences
in the U.S. The station traveled from Uruguay to
Charleston for the interview. He now holds an Artist
Certificate in Performance from the College of
Charleston.
Daniel started his teaching career in Uruguay,
continued in Charleston, SC and is currently
teaching private lessons to students of all levels
and ages in Houston, TX. Daniel is a very devoted
and patient teacher who is well liked and respected
by his students.
