For the past year Devra
worked as the musical director for the
childrens' program of the John W. Engeman
theater in Northport, Long Island where she
collaborated on four productions including
'How to Eat Like a Child', 'Dear Edwina,
Jr.', 'Shout' and '13'. In addition, she
co-taught a Glee class. This fall she will
join the SAR Academy in Riverdale as musical
director and accompanist for their
elementary school. She will also be the
musical director for 'Stages', a new and
upcoming childrens' theater program in
Jersey City. Devra is also a singer and
actor and was recently featured in a musical
review production with FSF in Queens. She is
currently playing the role of Betty in a
60's musical for the Stravelli Players in
Brooklyn. She is also a cabaret singer and
recently sang in one of Seth Bisen-Hersh's
showcases at Don't Tell Mama in Manhattan.
This summer Devra accompanied and worked
with Sandra Joseph, Broadway's former
long-running Christine in The Phantom of the
Opera, at the Omega Institue in Rhineback,
N.Y. Favorite roles for Devra have included
Louisa in The Sound of Music, Lucy in You're
a Good Man, Charlie Brown, understudying Ado
Annie in Oklahoma, and Peter Pan in a
musical review. Devra also studies tap with
Corrie Cooper at Cap 21 and voice with
Christine Riley, musical director in
residence at Marymont College. Devra
received her Bachelors degree from the
Oberlin Conservatory of Music and her
Masters from the Manhattan School of Music.
In both schools she was a piano performance
major. One of the highlights of Devra's
career was her participation in the
International Summer Master Classes in
Alushta, Ukraine where she was chosen to
perform for a televised concert. Devra is
also a passionate chamber musician. |
