STUDIO INFORMATION
The study of music is a collaborative effort between teacher,
student and, in the case of young students, their parents. It is
my responsibility to guide and nurture my student's musical
sensitivity, creativity, knowledge and technique. It is my
student's responsibility to practice daily and take part in
Musicales and Recitals. It is the parent's responsibility to
take an active role in the musical development of their child,
if applicable, which includes an awareness of the practice
schedule, attending Musicales and Recitals, and arriving
promptly to the lesson.
Musicales
Occur monthly. A Musicale is a performance laboratory where
students can try out their pieces in front of each other in a
relaxed, non-competitive environment. The time is also used for
group study of music theory in preparation for Certificate of
Merit exams.
Recitals
Winter and Spring of the academic year. Performing in front of a
live audience is the best way to improve your playing because it
provides an incentive for practice and, most importantly, an
opportunity to share music with others. Parents, family and
friends are encouraged to attend!
