As a teacher, I believe
that regardless of the student's talent or age, all piano
students deserve a musically well-rounded, ergonomically
sound piano instruction.
In my teaching, I
provide students with individualized attention to bring out
the best from them while making sure that they are equipped
with solid musical and technical skills.
In order to broaden the
student's knowledge in piano playing and music in general, I
always bring pieces of various music styles for them to
learn and enjoy. So it is not unusual to see my students
playing Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, Bartok,
Rachmaninoff, .... etc along with Duke Ellington, Irving
Berlin, Chris Martin, Aerosmith, Sting , Norah Jones.
MY APPROACH TO
TEACHING PIANO
Students who are
serious-minded in playing piano and classical music will
receive instruction that's of rigorous standard and
discipline in the following:
- Musicianship(theory/ear-training/music
history/ composition/ music appreciation)
- Technique(general
and injury-preventing)
- Ensemble(duet/two
piano)

Performance/audition preparation(for regional
concerts, festivals or music school admissions)
Students who would
like to play the piano as a hobby are to enjoy
instruction of less intensity yet still high quality in:

repertoire in all classical styles( baroque,
classical, romantic, contemporary)

musicianship

repertoire in Jazz / Popular / Rock'n Roll /Folk music
or any kind of music that can be played on the piano.

"THE RED TAILED
HAWKS IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY", an Innovative,
multi-genre(original piano music by Ms Sung and her
students/poetry/narration/photography) musical presentation
premiered in June, 2006.

OUR LIVES", a retrospective piano/popular
music recital, Feb. 2007
