Education:
- M.A in Music, Concentration
in Piano Performance
San Francisco State University, 1980
- B.M. in Music, Magna
Cum Laude
San Francisco State University, 1977
Carol
began her studies at the age of seven in San Francisco at the
Conservatory of Music under Lillian Hodgett. She went on to
study at SFSU under Carlo Bussotti, where she received her
Bachelor’s degree in Music, Magna Cum Laude, as
well as her Master’s in Piano Performance.
Oxygenation at birth caused her blindness and has given Carol
her unusual sensitivity to the interpretation of music. Instead
of considering her blindness a hindrance, it has only enhanced
her ability to utilize her other senses to impart her knowledge
to her students, as well as assisting in the development and
manifestation of their own talents.
Carol is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of
California and has given performances throughout the Bay Area.
Her range of musical activity has been broad, from Baroque to
modern, with emphasis on the seventeenth and eighteenth
centuries. She has served as organist at St. Elizabeth’s Chapel
at the Episcopal residence in San Francisco and as guest
organist at the New Liberation Presbyterian Church in Sausalito.
She currently teaches all levels of students, finding the Susuki
method especially effective for younger students, and utilizes
various other teaching systems for more advanced students.
