Bobbie Rastall has a B.M.E. (music education) degree from West
Virginia Wesleyan College and an M.A. (piano pedagogy) degree from
California State
Univ. Fullerton. She is also nationally certified through the
Music Teachers National Association as a professional piano teacher.
Bobbie has taught piano for 30 years.
The lessons are half hour at the piano and half hour in the lab.
The lessons are traditional piano lessons. The lab
contains computer stations, a listening station and a digital
piano. Students are given specific assignments for the
lab. They explore music history, theory and composers.
They raise their level of proficiency in composition, ear
training, note reading and rhythm reading. They listen to
some of the worlds greatest classical music as well as the music
they are working on. The lab experiences supplement and
enhance the music lesson. The two sessions, lesson and lab, go
hand in hand. Each student's course of work is designed by
Bobbie specifically for the student. Her goal is to teach
neighborhood kids to love music, be able to play the piano, and
be musically literate.
