Ben Hanson was born and raised in
Duluth, Minn. He is a local musician in the area as a pianist,
vocalist, and educator. He studied piano with Vicki Ott and
voice under William Bastian. He graduated from Hanson High
School in 2002, and received his Associate of Arts degree from
Lake Superior College. He is currently attending the College of
Saint Scholastica for his undergraduate degree in Music
Education-Vocal.
As a musician, he has done everything from teaching and
performing.
His teaching career began in 1999, and has taught over 140
students under his direction. He has taught privately, and also
at Lincoln Park Elementary School, Hamlin Music Academy, and
Schmitt Music.
He has been a church musician since 1998. He was the pianist at
Lincoln Park Baptist Church for five years, where he was a part
of their music committee and worship team. He also plays at
churches in the Duluth/Superior area, including Holy Family
Catholic Parish, Eastridge Community Church, the Lutheran Church
of the Holy Trinity, and Mount of Olives Baptist Church.
Ben has provided music for weddings, funerals, concerts,
recitals, musicals, plays, and church services. He has
accompanied choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists. He has
worked with many schools in the Duluth area including Denfeld
High School where he was the full time accompanist. He also
accompanied such choirs as Lake Superior College’s choir, Lake
Superior Youth Chorus, and East High School to name a few.
He has sung with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra Chorus,
UW-Superior’s A cappella and Chamber choirs, Lake Superior
College’s Concert choir, and CSS’s Chamber and Collegiate Choir.
Ben’s accomplishments include receiving 6 consecutive Superior
ratings in the Duluth Music Teachers Association’s sponsored
Junior Festival, where he also volunteered as an auditor for 3
years.
