Angel Lam is a dedicated composer and
pianist who has been actively instructing
piano, music theory and composition since
2004. She has taught piano lessons for
students of all ages, levels and styles. Ms.
Lam is classically trained and has a
knowledge of a wide range of musical styles.
As a composer she is an award-winning artist
premiering her works at the world’s most
prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall,
London BBC Proms and the Lucerne Festival in
Switzerland, and collaborating with renowned
artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Yale Cellos
directed by Aldo Parisot, the Silk Road
Project, and various orchestras nationally.
One of her composition was a part of a CD
that was nominated for a GRAMMY Award in
2011. Ms. Lam was born in Hong Kong and
grew up in Huntington Beach, California. She
received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree
from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns
Hopkins University, and a Henry and Lucy
Moses Full Scholarship Artist Diploma from
Yale University Yale School of Music. She
has a Master degree in Music Theory Pedagogy
from Peabody Conservatory, and is also the
recipient of the Piano Level 8 Certificate
and Music Theory Level 8 Certificate from
the Associate Board of the Royal Schools of
Music in the United Kingdom. She has
completed a piano pedagogy course while on a
fellowship at the Aspen Music Festival.
She has been an instructor of composition
at Yale College, Yale University, as well as
designing and teaching three music
appreciation courses and a music theory
fundamentals course at the Johns Hopkins
University.
