Welcome! I'm Alison Lund, a.k.a. "The Mary Poppins of Piano teachers", a Manhattan School of Music graduate and Carnegie Hall Teaching Affiliate with over fifteen years teaching experience. Specializing in beginning through intermediate students, my unique and highly effective approach, Piano FUNdamentals, integrates the best elements of traditional methods with my own innovations. A logical synthesis of listening, singing, playing, reading and composition successfully develops the musicality, physical freedom and authentic expression inherent in each and every student.

I am an Early Childhood Music Specialist, having studied and taught Dalcroze, Kodaly, Yamaha and MusikGarten ® methods, and have created original curriculums for multiple Montessori schools and the Saint Paul Conservatory of music. As a composer, I have a particular interest in having students consolidate their knowledge and skills in original work. As a certified yoga instructor with an extensive background in Alexander Technique and Body Mind centering ®, I am extremely interested in the physiology of healthy technique, and the application of mindfulness to both learning and teaching. Finally, as a highly trained classical singer, I am in the unique position of being qualified to offer both voice and piano lessons, which many young students find very appealing!

I am proud to be a founding teacher of the Royal Conservatory Carnegie Hall Achievement Program, and as such successfully prepare students for examinations in both performance and theory. My students also enjoy multiple performance opportunities at National Federation of Music Clubs festivals and our biannual recitals at Steinway Hall.
